MOLOPOLO WHITE BEACH
An instant getaway with my Chikitings (nephews). I promised them that we will have a beach outing before the start of their classes. My friends and I helped me decide which beach is perfect for our summer getaway. We chose Molopolo white beach because we heard about it several times already. That the bluish water is clear as crystal, the white powdery sand, and what excites me more is that the place is surrounded with corals just perfect for snorkelling. And sometimes daw, sea turtles are swimming along the area and so on and so on. For me to cut the rumors is to experience and explore the place myself. Lezzgoo!
I’ve been to Southern Leyte several times already because of San Pablo Island in Hinunangan. This time, I want it to be different. We chose Molopolo. Molopolo is located in the upper part of Liloan town proper which is 4 hours drive away from Tacloban. The road going to Liloan was layered with asphalt and covered with trees with full of “Karaykays” in some towns that we passed by. In the Philippines, you know when its May already, the road is full of Karaykays because May is fiesta season. The long road trip going to the beach was not-so-stressful since it has less traffic during Sunday.
THINGS TO DO
Enjoy the beach
The chikitings were amazed by the simple yet beautiful beach in Liloan. Actually they overheard a tourist that keeps on saying, “how nice it is to live in a place like this”.
Actually the beach doesn’t have the finest white sand as fine as Boracay but still its perfect for a summer getaway. The beach is also is surrounded with trees that provided shades that addded chillaxing feeling. To fully enjoy your vacation in Molopolo, I suggest to visit the place during off season or during weekdays.
This is the big cottage we rented for the whole day for only 300 pesos.
The cottage can accommodate 15 persons.
My chikitings also had their 1st boodle fight and it was awesome.
To add an extra fun for our summer getaway.
BOODLE FIGHT
its a Filipino military style of eating where food is served on a common table using banana leaves as plates.
There are no utensils nor plates used so you’ll be eating with your hands.
Bangka ride – Row Row Row your boat
Bangka rent is 300 pesos only inclusive of 3 life jackets for the entire day.
You can paddle on your own or hire someone to paddle for you for 100 pesos extra.
This is kuya Artemio our boat operator in the picture.
3 Islets
I highly suggest to visit the 3 Islets nearby. Its either via bangka / paddle or swim.
Other tourists did a cliff jumping on the 1st Islet.
Snorkeling
Bring your gears if going to this area. The place is surrounded with corals. The water is clear and its perfect for snorkeling. One thing I don’t like is it has so many jellyfish. I hope it was stingless jellyfish swimming around. And also, there are so many plastics trash beneath. hu hu hu. Come on guys, be considerate. hu hu hu Overall, I had a great time swimming and enjoying the view of corals beneath. I wonder how the environmental fee works with regards to this matter. hmmm. I hope someday, LGU will do something about this before its too late.
