ABOUT TACLOBAN CITY
Tacloban is the largest city in Eastern Visayas. The capital of the province of Leyte. Tacloban was formerly known as Kankabatok, named after the first settler Kabatok.
Tacloban has so much to offer that you might not probably heard of yet. Some tourists came to Tacloban as their jumpoff point to their next destination. Why not have atleast a day tour and explore the place. For sure, you’ll enjoy it.
THINGS TO DO
A unique and somewhat modern acrhitecture as a centerpiece made for the typhoon victims.
It is right next to the astrodome who stood strong during the typhoon Yolanda / Haiyan and saved thousands of victims.
Indeed there is sunshine after the rain and birds suddenly appears as a symbol of hope and new beginnings
The Sto. Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum
One of the he most visited attraction in Tacloban. This is one of the mansion of the Marcoses.
It is located at Real St, Downtown

Sto. Nino Church

It is located at Real St, Downtown. Few meters away from the Museum.
Tacloban City Hall
The Tacloban City Hall sits on Kankabato Hill overlooking the panoramic Kankabato Bay.
Located at Paterno Ext, Downtown which is few steps away from the church.
Pamunuan san lalawigan sa Leyte or Leyte Provincial Capitol
Located at Senator Enage St, Downtown.
Still, walking distance away from Tacloban City Hall.
Moron / Chocolate Moron
Try the famous local delicacy chocolate Moron.
It is made of ground rice cooked in coconut milk then flavored with cocoa for only 25 pesos each.
There are lot of vendors around Zamora St. Downtown.
Waraynon party is never complete without this local delicacy.

Shipwreck MV Eva Jocelyn
This memorial is in honor of the resident who perished in that spot when this cargo vessel was swept ashore by a gigantic storm surge
San Juanico Bridge
An icon, it connects the people of Samar and Leyte
The most visited attraction in Tacloban.
Even myself. This is 1 of my favorite routes to exercise. Fresh air and relaxing ambiance up there.
This bridge is considered the longest bridge in the Philippines.
The bridge from aerial view can make out a shape of letter L & S. Meaning, Leyte & Samar.
This is also known as the Bridge of Love. Perfect for an engagement photoshoot.
As the late former Philippine President, Ferdinand Marcos dedicated the bridge to his wife, Imelda Marcos who was known as the Rose of Tacloban.
Mac Arthur Park
Though the park is not part of Tacloban City. It is located town next of Tacloban. Which is few kilometers away.
Candahug, Palo, Leyte.
HOW TO GET THERE
Philippine Airline, Air Asia and Cebu Pacific have several flights direct from Manila and Cebu (except Air Asia) to Tacloban City daily. Air Asia has 4 flights per week from Clark, Pampanga to Tacloban City. Cebu Pacific has 3 flights per week from Davao to Tacloban City.
WHERE TO STAY
There are lot of cheap hotels in Tacloban around downtown area. Hoping to get their rates and update this post soon.
